<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">4. Take one of your tubes and thread the string through the hole you have made. Hold the card taught over the end of the tube and stick down the taps (use double sided or regular sticky tape). Repeat with the non holed end.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">5. Measure and cut red card to cover the tube, allowing approximately an inch overhang. Apply double sided tape to both ends (you can also do the edges time and tape permitting). Line the tube up with the end of the sheet, and roll it tightly in the card, making sure it is secure at the end. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">6. This step is entirely optional but adding some smudgey 'soot' marks really adds to the finished effect. I already had Distress Inks so I used those with an applicator to add dirt and blackened edges. Perhaps ordinary ink or paint could be sponged on in a similar way.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">7. Adding text is optional, I went with 'Dynamite' as this was the brief I was working to but TNT, ACME, or danger explosives would also work well. I used a set of stencil style clear acrylic stamps, and for speed lined them all up on one block. If you don't have stamps consider using a stencil or writing freehand text</span>.</div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It's that time of year again, another school year coming to an end, and you think everything should be calming down and wrapped up for the summer. But no, your 5 year old needs a costume for their party, not to mention Thank You cards for Teachers, TA's, parent helpers.... Oh and a thoughtful teachers gift! Thank goodness for pinterest!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Firstly my Teacher gifts: I had seen this idea and free <a href="http://lisastorms.typepad.com/lisa-storms/2011/05/teacher-appreciation-week-part-3.html">printable </a>from Lisa Storms a while ago but not seen any of the tumblers in the UK. Found these apple green ones in The Range and got to work. I printed the free download onto kraft card for the straw, shredded brown and ivory paper to fill the cup with faux "iced latte" </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXTyZen4LCAdrf-924Q22ZNWdwA7b-Hdwb3h96f8B7DWhgTnCvOvQ3JWRnwvhKL2ZoRvpqJiViHzjci60PEHktQSDCiAL0shetAEhvkY_Gys3oq_ajnYl43nOWvpMiSCcf3Yn4GU_RMxA/s1600/Lowen-teacher-gifts-waterma.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXTyZen4LCAdrf-924Q22ZNWdwA7b-Hdwb3h96f8B7DWhgTnCvOvQ3JWRnwvhKL2ZoRvpqJiViHzjci60PEHktQSDCiAL0shetAEhvkY_Gys3oq_ajnYl43nOWvpMiSCcf3Yn4GU_RMxA/s1600/Lowen-teacher-gifts-waterma.jpg" height="128" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Probably more of an expense than planned but I ended up buying starbucks coffee vouchers for each of the 3 teachers and asked if I could have a cup-holder with each. The cup-holders didn't quite fit, but that gave me the opportunity to fill the void with a die-cut apple printed with the teacher's name and thank you message.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Next, an orginal idea I had (but so simple I'm sure it will have been done somewhere before. I got Little Lady to make her own cards this year:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipSWAI7T32tnnyFGazS-H8iDqjiopgNS1qo83hlCml5gNarO9452N7kKzPjxd-XNFGHWII-5cibTVlluEjV_H0WY8AFAr6fwnu8mf17TZifjpwgEz7Aq98hHs6Cb-TQbLu6392GIpBPWU/s1600/Lowen-Teacher-cards-waterma.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipSWAI7T32tnnyFGazS-H8iDqjiopgNS1qo83hlCml5gNarO9452N7kKzPjxd-XNFGHWII-5cibTVlluEjV_H0WY8AFAr6fwnu8mf17TZifjpwgEz7Aq98hHs6Cb-TQbLu6392GIpBPWU/s1600/Lowen-Teacher-cards-waterma.jpg" height="400" width="328" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I printed the teachers name on the front, and a little quote she has said about each teacher. We then cut out triangles from my scraps of scrapbook papers, and then I gave her the felt tips and told her the triangles were dresses, could she draw the head/arms/legs and write her own name inside. I am so pleased with the result they look great, didn't take long and every card is unique :) </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<br />Riannahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11064492139460150078noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846428930747375677.post-60123379644493557702014-05-12T18:16:00.001+01:002014-05-12T18:24:31.604+01:00Frozen Party: The Invitations<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">As you may have gathered, despite the May weather here finally starting to brighten up, our house is becoming a flurry of snowflake themed crafting, no I'm not getting prepared for Christmas early, we are planning a Frozen Party :) And like many Parents up and down the country I am having to work harder than usual to find theme related paraphernalia, because of the sheer demand for all things Frozen being at a pinnacle and the fact that shops everywhere seem to have the bizarre notion that snowflakes belong in winter ;)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">So I am obviously making a lot of my own things for the Party..... who am I kidding - I'd have been doing that anyway! So first up (not including that <a href="http://handmadebyrianna.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/frozen-party-glass-bottle-favours.html">Glass bottle favor</a> post, because who makes favors before they have actually invited anyone...) is the invites. I had some idea that I could do some Anna and some Elsa, but the Elsa ones were so pretty I got a bit carried away, and if I had been thinking I would have made some Olaf ones for the boys.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPk7jZKx_lsgfXD3lT77ryIAMeunxEOYOUBFBtyLzJxMfHjQBSb3Ht_UDAvttgjEaZtfOkrKVwpE-GvzdF9LKkiY82e5BtOBqpQct8nuZhk_S98KwjIN-fPAWELWE4hR0yeERDz3M__n4/s1600/Party_invites_elsa_02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPk7jZKx_lsgfXD3lT77ryIAMeunxEOYOUBFBtyLzJxMfHjQBSb3Ht_UDAvttgjEaZtfOkrKVwpE-GvzdF9LKkiY82e5BtOBqpQct8nuZhk_S98KwjIN-fPAWELWE4hR0yeERDz3M__n4/s1600/Party_invites_elsa_02.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Firstly I should point out that as the Elsa image is a Disney Trademark, therefore copyright, so I can not reproduce these for sale. However that's good news for all of you crafters as it does mean I can share the details of how to make it....</span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtra2wgfHpEb7rB0WwKBSluQdp2N8jsTjyRTLFEiGiF6b2PTFXZT3lFdnHDegsqX9nWo4-mO3ORoueGJQf9IRQXgN9NeO0ZCaCznlxNlHaum9NKPifdaSIv8lUAoejKnrQdLjFhBgIp6g/s1600/Party_invites_elsa_03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtra2wgfHpEb7rB0WwKBSluQdp2N8jsTjyRTLFEiGiF6b2PTFXZT3lFdnHDegsqX9nWo4-mO3ORoueGJQf9IRQXgN9NeO0ZCaCznlxNlHaum9NKPifdaSIv8lUAoejKnrQdLjFhBgIp6g/s1600/Party_invites_elsa_03.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Essentially this card is an A4 Card blank with a 140mm x 97mm background panel, 200mm of ribbon and an embellished 'badge'.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> </span>The Badge was achieved by simply punching out an image of
Elsa with a circle punch, die cutting a decorative circle using the Spellbinders Picot Circles and embellishing with a punched out snowflake and blue star
gem. In most of the cards the ribbon was the threaded thru two of the holes to pull it together (however I seem to have photographed the one card that wasn't, lol)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYOIAWmUS-5yP9w5yFz7CPXl2OM6MGK6-ZoBVfGzSD0OmMlbS5rWoom2z2QA2WZnmq2fKYv_mEnx5nP0m0FeSCp9ODried6wOm8UO7zbCdM10mMjwdc8EUvFTS5iOot4H91XAZHqUiFM4/s1600/Party_invites_elsa_01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYOIAWmUS-5yP9w5yFz7CPXl2OM6MGK6-ZoBVfGzSD0OmMlbS5rWoom2z2QA2WZnmq2fKYv_mEnx5nP0m0FeSCp9ODried6wOm8UO7zbCdM10mMjwdc8EUvFTS5iOot4H91XAZHqUiFM4/s1600/Party_invites_elsa_01.jpg" height="400" width="303" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The background is made up in layers of heat embossing and distress inks. But to be honest any blue or snowflake motif cardstock would work well here, stay in your comfort zone and use your own talents to adapt the card to what you need. For the more experienced cardmaker I have added a breif tutorial to the end to show the exact techniques used.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> Inside I added a printed sheet with all of the party details and a few royal looking crests. Finally the back of each envelope was sealed by the Birthday girl with a snowflake stamp.</span></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> 1. Use your snowflake stamps and VersaMark to make a few watermarks on your page, try to use different sizes and space out your clusters of snowflakes so more can be added later. Cover with your embossing powder, shake off the access and use your heat tool to emboss. If is very hard to see what you are doing at this point but keep turning it towards the light while you are stamping.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">2. Using your ink daubber, in small circular motions start blending a little of your lightest distress ink directly from the center (normally you start at the edge but we are covering most of this with the badge) I used 'Peacock Feathers' here to bring a little turquoise to the colour palette. You should start to see your clear stamps, which will stay white.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">3. Now start at the corners and edges and work in your main colour, gently blending as you go, concentrate the ink on the corners and around the 'clear' snowflakes. There is no avoiding it, you will get very blue fingers as you turn the paper, but it can;t be helped and gloves just make your hands sweaty. I then used my darker colour to creative definition on the edges.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">4. Use your snowflake stamps with your main Distress Ink colour to randomly fill in a few of the gaps, again try to use different sizes and shapes. To create lighter snowflakes, for more depth lightly press your inked stamp on scrap paper before stamping on the background.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Firstly, my apologies I have been a blog deserter for favour of quick updates on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hand-Made-By-Rianna/170168099710848">facebook page</a> and completely neglected my updates. Somehow I still haven't added a party round up for the TMNT party J had back in November let alone Christmas - must try harder!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">I am brought back here today because I have been planning Miss L's June birthday :) She wants the 'hot trend' of the moment: A Disney Frozen Party as a theme.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><i>Firstly ... Do you know how hard it is just to buy snowflake related items in April/May? </i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">The Disney store itself seems ill prepared for this sudden run away merchandising success, our local shop sells out of anything Elsa related before it even makes it to the shop floor, and anything from a certain auction site is priced high due to supply and demand. So I will be making everything from scratch in a largely bluey/white theme. The only saving grace is that we have managed to get our hands on one of the very elusive dresses, so at least I won't be needing my sewing machine this time around :)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Obviously I can't share too many party details yet as I'd hate to spoil the surprise for any of the attendees, but I can share this one: <b>Glass bottle favors for the Party bags</b>.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjofmaXxBqL4pAZ5nP8GxJ136t8Fio1Dkpu9JCzBw90BXALmLILSdUdXhhRPsUw0ab_6hpYFbY8uF6zqM-KNIGvpoBWqmWrOTSu-eq0pPQrnxJ6g7lJax_kbKUlDP4tHMx0Nsp_lOhYbp0/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_00.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjofmaXxBqL4pAZ5nP8GxJ136t8Fio1Dkpu9JCzBw90BXALmLILSdUdXhhRPsUw0ab_6hpYFbY8uF6zqM-KNIGvpoBWqmWrOTSu-eq0pPQrnxJ6g7lJax_kbKUlDP4tHMx0Nsp_lOhYbp0/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_00.jpg" height="301" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">OK, so this isn't going to be some big turorial of a post, because if you know how to pour small things into glass bottles you are pretty much sorted, you just need to decide what to fill it with.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinvYCY-hHGfK3D0s0dwDK6K3_U6ji_tYL1f9jWT30NHxoxxeJIRsAB2UvAZutXrD3wQzcDB5KhsENTr832UqMZ7eWS41Qyqlb64cfHrA-uzovvO0a28dk86ORzRMIlrYSZ_BiobVylvN8/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinvYCY-hHGfK3D0s0dwDK6K3_U6ji_tYL1f9jWT30NHxoxxeJIRsAB2UvAZutXrD3wQzcDB5KhsENTr832UqMZ7eWS41Qyqlb64cfHrA-uzovvO0a28dk86ORzRMIlrYSZ_BiobVylvN8/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_01.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Firstly I tried, faux pearls, silver beads, glitter and tiny snowflake confetti, the idea being that the girls could use them as ornaments, and this one is certainly going on our tree this year.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcMJS_po7HqiKi6-LO6q9-Bk6cS5FaVJBqCiRQH1TyPYsZlDD-T4ceIqjOzBOMgK-njlODbNMYrFNgDDbfUYX1r-lF6-AA19iDxDNioONvO6DTXEar6gAD8xqGPrNtNZjRNt-gtjLPYOM/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcMJS_po7HqiKi6-LO6q9-Bk6cS5FaVJBqCiRQH1TyPYsZlDD-T4ceIqjOzBOMgK-njlODbNMYrFNgDDbfUYX1r-lF6-AA19iDxDNioONvO6DTXEar6gAD8xqGPrNtNZjRNt-gtjLPYOM/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_02.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">I did ultimately shelve this idea for the party thou, as I was worried that some of the 3-4 year olds might accidentally ingest the contents. However this probably wouldn't be an issue for older party goers or if you included a safety tag/label.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizhc-V-I8EAFPTem0kBiwOI9tUUysOsKD9sR-b1eCzIWtWU_VdsCYwjS43eE1jMe5HNBMWT85VTOYZ9-xQckQa-vOY-A6O8berukHpXFl9ljOyVREmac3TgAOfdEbeyJr67XEUjvSkrcc/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizhc-V-I8EAFPTem0kBiwOI9tUUysOsKD9sR-b1eCzIWtWU_VdsCYwjS43eE1jMe5HNBMWT85VTOYZ9-xQckQa-vOY-A6O8berukHpXFl9ljOyVREmac3TgAOfdEbeyJr67XEUjvSkrcc/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_03.jpg" height="400" width="255" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">This brought me to my next bright idea: edible contents. Here I've used Bubble gum millions - but any theme coloured tiny sweet or sherbert would do. I've added a paper punch snowflake and gem to keep it in the Frozen theme.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Other ideas that would work well might be just glitter, beads, feathers, or even make a melted snowman: (use firmo to make a tiny carrot nose, twigs and coal lumps and fill the bottle with water so they float). Good luck, and I hope this gives you yet another idea in your hunt for D.I.Y party perfection.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikre7Cq6H11nyznjwpj8oMsDEhXPwGu36iZHdJBr_kgMVNYl5opy7Hl5XlrdkT0oCbc_gNtma6q_JyFpeJ-dBUNHCIw8gGibD-KsRT0BmNYQT3IhDMZ_7w6zfuyp-p9IlGodHKlz3wbtM/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikre7Cq6H11nyznjwpj8oMsDEhXPwGu36iZHdJBr_kgMVNYl5opy7Hl5XlrdkT0oCbc_gNtma6q_JyFpeJ-dBUNHCIw8gGibD-KsRT0BmNYQT3IhDMZ_7w6zfuyp-p9IlGodHKlz3wbtM/s1600/party_frozen_bottles_05.jpg" height="266" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">ps- apologies for the awful photo quality for some reason I can't photograph these in good light today! </span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">I didn't have all the punches suggested so I improvised using Spellbinders Classic Circles, a couple of woodware circle punches, the heart from the Sizzix Home Sweet Home die, I didn't have any triangle punches or dies so I cut two squares in half for the beak and then I hand cut a 'V' shape for the eyebrows and a fork shape for his tail. Really simple.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Firstly apologies for the lack of blog updates, between facepainting at the school summer fair, Miss L's Birthday and family illnesses I haven't had a lot of time for a proper update. I have been popping a few instant updates up on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hand-Made-By-Rianna/170168099710848">facebook page</a> for anyone following me, and thought I'd share a few snippets of 'behind the scenes' from the wedding stationary I've been working on for a friend:</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">My little Pony themed Invites for a paper crafter are a little tricky .... Do you attempt to cut out a whole pony? Do you go for a general girlie invite and add a pony at the end? Cutie Marks? Or just give in and print something?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">As those of you following on Facebook will have seen I eventually went down the Rainbow route. In this case it was for Rainbow Dash the pony, but these could easily be used for a generic Rainbow Party.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">There are lots of great rainbow and cloud dies out there, but budget and common sense told me that I probably wouldn't get enough use out of it to warrant buying one, so I used my existing dies. This isn't exactly a tutorial, but I thought I'd share how I made my rainbows using Spellbinders Circle dies in case it helps anyone else :)</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Once the glue had had time to set, I ran the whole thing through my big shot again with the smallest of the dies carefully positioned in the centre of the purple circle (I used a tiny bit of masking tape so as not to ruin the surrounding paper). You may need to run it though several times (depending on the thickness of the card used) or in my case I let it cut though to the yellow layer, then removed the 'hole' so far and ran it through again. Then use scissors or a paper cutter to chop the whole thing in half, and Ta-da! you have a two rainbows.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">To</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> finish I cut some white clouds by using a topping from a cupcake die set and cut the tip off the icing peaks (I used Marieanne Creatables but other cupcake dies could work just as well). I used Kaisercraft party Invitation dies to add the main text. Printed a 'Rainbow Dash' image from google, cut it with a circle punch and mounted it on a scalloped circle in silver card (a postal friendly version of a flattened bottle cap). I added her name to the cloud letter by letter with an alphabet die, and used a Pink 3 (Tim Holtz Vintage Market place) to remind everyone of her age :)</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Planning a party? Really want a 'pin-the-tail' game and can't find the right one to fit your theme? No problem, just scale up an image and you can make your own! In fact this technique has a number of applications and will help you to copy or enlarge any image by hand. Great for cards to send into kids TV channels, posters, face-in-hole photo boards and even full scale wall murals :D</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><u>What you'll need:</u></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- An image to copy</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- A large sheet of paper (eg-A2)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- A pencil</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- A good eraser</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- A ruler</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Pencils/Paint/Felt tips</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE5CLMMPctcfprzOD81nXORfmus6Gyb00DaHFCPebxYwjBZlDzkVDmFyBTmvhaWjqly3RTlAE7dmuRBd7BWrrDjby1e79HVD8FSNAi5AtPBBE0xo8didHZWBXrRGECxdR6DxQYOBQi3Bo/s1600/20130516_095517.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<br /><br />Firstly you need to find a good colour image of the character you want to use. Consider which item or part of them you want your guests to pin to the background image; for example; for a pony it might be the tail, for a clown a nose, etc etc. Make sure the position of this is prominent in the photo - we are not going to draw it but it helps if you can clearly see the object should be.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a name='more'></a><br />
For the purposes of this tutorial, I am using 'Pinkie Pie' from the 'my little pony: friendship is magic' TV series as this is the theme of my daughter's 3rd birthday party [more posts to follow] so the object we will not be drawing is the tail.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE5CLMMPctcfprzOD81nXORfmus6Gyb00DaHFCPebxYwjBZlDzkVDmFyBTmvhaWjqly3RTlAE7dmuRBd7BWrrDjby1e79HVD8FSNAi5AtPBBE0xo8didHZWBXrRGECxdR6DxQYOBQi3Bo/s1600/20130516_095517.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE5CLMMPctcfprzOD81nXORfmus6Gyb00DaHFCPebxYwjBZlDzkVDmFyBTmvhaWjqly3RTlAE7dmuRBd7BWrrDjby1e79HVD8FSNAi5AtPBBE0xo8didHZWBXrRGECxdR6DxQYOBQi3Bo/s320/20130516_095517.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<br />
Now, print out the image. I've used a colour image so I can reference the shades of pink when adding colour later, however a draft copy in black and white or outline image would work just as well.<br />
<br />
Take a pencil and ruler and draw a grid of squares over the image. I chose to use 1cm squares so I measured and marked equal intervals of 1cm on one side, then the other and made a connecting line using the ruler. Then I did the same top and bottom, which should make nice even squares. Write 1, 2, 3, 4...etc along the top of each square and then a, b, c... etc along the side. This is for your own reference so you can track each square by calling it a1 or f6 later on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcmVwO0ewf9l6vjtrHsMCj9kKXE83AMk7n5Ivt7PdZe3LJfRZJkkJP4IinyXBdNhlg-jCyauDAoqZmZ5sy1vB58bpPOzpmI4ceOazFsJ8iq7ygkVdZQ8j7FsdEfKBLP4EZyRMuDldnXI0/s1600/20130516_111148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcmVwO0ewf9l6vjtrHsMCj9kKXE83AMk7n5Ivt7PdZe3LJfRZJkkJP4IinyXBdNhlg-jCyauDAoqZmZ5sy1vB58bpPOzpmI4ceOazFsJ8iq7ygkVdZQ8j7FsdEfKBLP4EZyRMuDldnXI0/s320/20130516_111148.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now take your large sheet of paper, I used A2. My small image fitted in a grid 9 squares by 12. So I measured the A2 paper, allowed for a border and divided by the 9 and 12, and this gave me squares of 4cm. I marked them as before and used the ruler to draw a light line between them (you may need to make interval marks at several heights and connect them if the length is bigger than your ruler). Effectively by multiplying our original 1cm square by 4 we should end up with an image that is 4 times the size.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This will work with ANY measurement, whether you are using mm, cm, inch or even yard squares, just multiply up by the required fraction.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
OK, so that's the fiddly maths part out of the way, now for the artsy part :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rather than trying to copy a picture in it's entirety, all you have to concentrate on is copying a single square tile.... and then another and another until you can connect them all to make a picture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpC6McqGOYTw8ClyiRaL0T8rhMVL_V6ZO5TXJFeyswI-bx7njEtIYrPmmCVGt79ppS9I0B6PakFxnvQsWZzBENqrqM555LE6ELT0ZVZafq63fRGG0j1cS6ZG7AdeHqyYULYDlgV1O0z84/s1600/20130516_155045.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpC6McqGOYTw8ClyiRaL0T8rhMVL_V6ZO5TXJFeyswI-bx7njEtIYrPmmCVGt79ppS9I0B6PakFxnvQsWZzBENqrqM555LE6ELT0ZVZafq63fRGG0j1cS6ZG7AdeHqyYULYDlgV1O0z84/s320/20130516_155045.jpg" width="276" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To show you an example of how this works I've copied one tile (f7) and enlarge it in a blank area to show how it would look in isolation before drawing more of the surrounding tiles. The simplest technique for copying tiles is to mark on the side the approximate point that the lines pass through with a little dot and then join them with a curved line. Just make sure that when connecting lines or drawing part of larger shapes like circles that your lines are smooth and don't look disjointed. And don't forget not to copy the item that you intend your guests to pin!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1pvbbLxiZgCj1fLl5HH7nmCYA7vlGrfNAQuGymWl4Nb6E2NkMdO9TTBI0En2cxHyXhsMjHhVwUZitATsR1yCBPckhW_NJjFMB6gbJ0gAmFhQYMhR02UqzhahPL5I9qCR8z_I4LI6EZPo/s1600/20130516_112907.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1pvbbLxiZgCj1fLl5HH7nmCYA7vlGrfNAQuGymWl4Nb6E2NkMdO9TTBI0En2cxHyXhsMjHhVwUZitATsR1yCBPckhW_NJjFMB6gbJ0gAmFhQYMhR02UqzhahPL5I9qCR8z_I4LI6EZPo/s320/20130516_112907.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
By copying the picture tile by tile you will soon make up and outline of the whole picture. Now is a good time to review the picture as a whole - do the lines that go through several squares match up? Does that circle look more oval?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXuez64MDH5x10YiV7c_1m6-1KI6lFe28r_CXfRQZ_zA_P-M4GCGXfbhB3JMtTg9mmjxtBF-XIX8_dThRxUqPAJuU7_7Xsi7YamnUkHDcwWi2upIQlTiIJiDkt__hCx17I4uhe8j4sxiY/s1600/20130516_113241.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXuez64MDH5x10YiV7c_1m6-1KI6lFe28r_CXfRQZ_zA_P-M4GCGXfbhB3JMtTg9mmjxtBF-XIX8_dThRxUqPAJuU7_7Xsi7YamnUkHDcwWi2upIQlTiIJiDkt__hCx17I4uhe8j4sxiY/s320/20130516_113241.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the finished pencil outline of Pinking Pie, minus that lovely curly tail. She looks pretty accurate, so now for a more permanent outline...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-y7j9_5-iZ_lOXEFi_dD6GlRmoH0Oi1aGtFUpt2IIF51i7HRQMeP_GmDW2KKcP0SfVOaFNHzX0iWXa00wnvs1t0AM7yU4jiFC6xwW_7DV5vsZFnB3qtkhtGnD3fxmCQGo9Fw7SdiSxoI/s1600/20130516_114857.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-y7j9_5-iZ_lOXEFi_dD6GlRmoH0Oi1aGtFUpt2IIF51i7HRQMeP_GmDW2KKcP0SfVOaFNHzX0iWXa00wnvs1t0AM7yU4jiFC6xwW_7DV5vsZFnB3qtkhtGnD3fxmCQGo9Fw7SdiSxoI/s320/20130516_114857.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For most cartoon characters a black outline will suffice here, simply go over all your lines with a sharpie or felt tip carefully avoiding the grid lines, however this is a Lauren Faust style My Little Pony and the outline lines each are a darker shade of the fill colour - so I used coloured felt tips on the outlines and a black sharpie marker for the eyes and eyelashes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9k5IMGSv7drdie-k5HW1NAIttiYZG8dv4JeD9DQKwMk_qYBo71H7pLWcL6hBfynx-ItDSKkf3zIPw89kCW-bEpD4fz35D_ijPsD47X_s_nDHHvQXiPX4X9SK0yvkBzkJ2A4gbfU3ui_4/s1600/20130516_115606.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9k5IMGSv7drdie-k5HW1NAIttiYZG8dv4JeD9DQKwMk_qYBo71H7pLWcL6hBfynx-ItDSKkf3zIPw89kCW-bEpD4fz35D_ijPsD47X_s_nDHHvQXiPX4X9SK0yvkBzkJ2A4gbfU3ui_4/s320/20130516_115606.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next step is to rub out all the pencil marks (both grid and the outline marks you went over). This is a bigger job than you might think and you'll be grateful for a good quality eraser and lightly pressed pencil marks. There might still be traces of marks visible once you are done, so if you are a perfectionist instead of erasing the grid lines, place a new piece of A2 over the image and trace the outline onto the clean piece.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdR2NQNBCm7uQw-y2XxQyT8bZIWfQchzip5Oa0RVTpuhKjuKX_Pdn2wGZCcmRAxXqMbcsK9KtVwdDS5GrWdIkQvJfu1x5LICUY1kVLlEZlbYLdgXPf_ipKkeOkcOq07qpR2gtA6KTgjmk/s1600/20130516_120358.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdR2NQNBCm7uQw-y2XxQyT8bZIWfQchzip5Oa0RVTpuhKjuKX_Pdn2wGZCcmRAxXqMbcsK9KtVwdDS5GrWdIkQvJfu1x5LICUY1kVLlEZlbYLdgXPf_ipKkeOkcOq07qpR2gtA6KTgjmk/s320/20130516_120358.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now it's time to colour your image. You can use pencils, crayons, felt tips, tissue paper or even paint. It might even be a fun project to give to the kids and let them help! I used coloured pencils, as I felt this was the easiest way to get an all over colour very quickly. The best advice when using pencils is to try to keep your pencil strokes going in the same direction as the surrounding lines, or to use a hashing technique (strokes one way and then the opposite way).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I quite like the shaded effect I got by using the pencils, although this isn't quite 'as-per' the original image, I quite like the fact it is so obviously 'hand drawn'.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBMHf5NGZiylbPp6Kle9iEy9uf67UtCfKYePTdvL45PAlaTkyBHz1x_yLMkXF-GpKwWwH7jaGaY29uaETyqNz9wE-p9MlH50W8htc8FbtVzZjTHPIRgvW4w7g_gBH9rpcsNQsW6mnsPgo/s1600/20130516_124525.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBMHf5NGZiylbPp6Kle9iEy9uf67UtCfKYePTdvL45PAlaTkyBHz1x_yLMkXF-GpKwWwH7jaGaY29uaETyqNz9wE-p9MlH50W8htc8FbtVzZjTHPIRgvW4w7g_gBH9rpcsNQsW6mnsPgo/s320/20130516_124525.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The final thing to do is to decide how to represent the 'tail' or object you want your guest to pin and put an 'x' to mark the correct location. Guests could just use their finger. You could use cut out tails or give them a pen or a sticker. I am going to give the guests a pink self inking stamp and might even create a 'tail' by sticking some felt or fun fur out of the hole in the handle, will have to wait and see! Party related posts should be appearing soon and the finished results will be posted mid June.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope this tutorial was helpful. I learnt this technique at school and it has been very useful over the years - I hope you find a good use for it too :D</div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">We had some very sad news last weekend, a family member sadly passed away. They will be very much missed by everyone who knew them. So there may not be too many updates from me for a little while, but I just wanted to share the simple card I made for some of my relatives.</span></div>

<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">After a really long day yesterday I was in need of some 'me time' and usually that means locking myself in my craft room or opening a bottle of wine and watching a girlie movie. However I was lacking craft inspiration and as I'm on a health kick I decided against the wine, lol. Rather than attempt to keep working on one of my current projects I decided to open my scrap paper drawer and just have some fun making a card for this week's <a href="http://mojomonday.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/mojo-monday-287-contest_1.html">Mojomonday</a> competition. Here is the original sketch:</span></blockquote>

<br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I mostly used scraps from my MME boys crazy stash, as I love the colours, and distressed the edges with Brushed Corduroy, Ripe Persimmon and Broken China. I used my Spellbinders Gears dies for the red and orange cogs. The sentiment was stamped on lined Kraft using Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black I even experimented with my new Fiskars eyelet setting tools as the embellishment detail. I substituted the scalloped circle for a flattened bottle top to which I added a punched circle of the scrapbook paper and filled with resin for a glossy finish. Finally I added the twine for some texture. Here is the finished card:</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Admittedly this post is a few weeks late, but here is a look at the two variations of Mother's Day cards I did this year. Both where designed around my new Bigz Birdhouse die from Sizzix.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb6UO6oNnN9qGgx0hxN31bGgvgjEdsj7pkNyiw7vPFp3spXfP0IJRaApyaA_8rpAw7tC4ZnmR3zq8S4YSfva2FJ2f2Ci-o-APyzpIWWceZAXAHNY2p955DQdfBv-BX0uK44HMb6HI6IU4/s1600/Card_mothersday13_01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="297" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb6UO6oNnN9qGgx0hxN31bGgvgjEdsj7pkNyiw7vPFp3spXfP0IJRaApyaA_8rpAw7tC4ZnmR3zq8S4YSfva2FJ2f2Ci-o-APyzpIWWceZAXAHNY2p955DQdfBv-BX0uK44HMb6HI6IU4/s400/Card_mothersday13_01.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The cards are a admittedly little on the 'twee' side of my usual work but I like to think the use of old book pages and distress inks help give it a more vintage look.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">I gave my Mum the blue variation of this card and hand folded and cut the 'banner' for the sentiment using the border from the book page. I used the distress ink 'broken china' to accent the blue. It actually took the longest time to actually get the card started as I had soo many ideas and no clue of how to combine them </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">into a coherent card, it probably didn't help that my craft time was limited to a 2 hour window </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">one night after the kids where in bed and in the midst of all the other projects I have on the go, but I was determined to get them right and stayed up till midnight finsihing them.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQHkn6DlxwbleY7eQ45DF7gfgbdBnEOKHNd-jZDfX1ugAzdL3Jta5rSRFrZFZ7MCLM5JYOTeYnuA3PvEXIVJd-icAK9ilFN9W79hVzzCaZet0ezfSWe2lM_E64F0nv4Oi3CpB1ehQtiAQ/s1600/Card_mothersday13_03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQHkn6DlxwbleY7eQ45DF7gfgbdBnEOKHNd-jZDfX1ugAzdL3Jta5rSRFrZFZ7MCLM5JYOTeYnuA3PvEXIVJd-icAK9ilFN9W79hVzzCaZet0ezfSWe2lM_E64F0nv4Oi3CpB1ehQtiAQ/s400/Card_mothersday13_03.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">The pink variation was destined for my Mother In Law, and despite arriving late due to misdirected mail was well received. The birdhouse is edged with 'Victorian Velvet' ink and I added a ribbon to the background of this card as for some reason it seemed to lack detail when compared to the blue. The butterflies are cut using woodware punches, and I added pearls and diamante for a bit of detail.</span></div>

<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">First I took an image of the item I wanted to replicate (in this case a red nose day nose), and enlarged in back and white. I cut out the pieces I wanted to use (eyes and mouth) and let the t-shirt colour do most of the work as the 'face'/background. In the case of the mouth, to get the position of each tooth correct; I cut a complete mouth, labeled each tooth, photocopied it and then cut each tooth out individual. Each paper template was then pinned to the appropriate coloured felt and cut out.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Seems like forever since I headed over to </span><a href="http://mojomonday.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">MojoMonday</span></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> for a bit of a crafty challenge. I've been soo busy with the kids and I've been helping a dear friend of mine with her wedding invitations, and when I do need to make a card my brain has been a little scattered lately, so what better way to top up my crafty mojo than a Mojomonday challenge? Mojo Monday </span><a href="http://mojomonday.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/mojo-monday-282.html" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">282</span></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> to be precised. It's the last Monday in the Month so it's circle or square time :) This week's sketch was designed by Julee, and it is both simple yet striking.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">I used the fab alphabet scrapbook paper (can't remember who it's by, might be MME) as my main feature and the added kraft card and the reverse of the gears card I used in my last post. I stamped the little feet image using Ranger Archival ink in coffee and aged the edges with Distress Inks: Broken China and Vintage Photo.</span></div>

I found this fab MME paper in my local craft shop <a href="http://sparkle-dreams.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Sparkle Dreams</a> a few weeks ago and I've been dying to it but other projects are taking up a lot of my time at the moment.</div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Mr S' Granddad's Birthday is on Saturday and as this was the first masculine paper I came across in my paper stash I thought it was a good excuse as any to use it :)</span></div>

<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I was inspired by the gear-like background to use my Donna Salazar dies, and added two labels. I used both 'Grandad' and 'Great Grandpa' to represent both the kids and our relationship to him, and tied them on with my trademark twine.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Inside the main gear I stamped a 'happy birthday' message and accented with little red gems. I think I may try another version of this card aimed more at boys, given the gears I almost want to try a robot, or maybe something simpler.</span></div>

After 2 years of my expanding craft supplies, tools and paraphernalia being housed in the study/junk/guest room we've finally had a sort out!</div>
<div dir="ltr">
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
Now the "junk" is less (or at least better organised) the guest sofa bed is visible and everything had been moved around to allow for my new "husband-built" desk. Here is a photo of the desk going in and my daughter with hands over her ears in case the drilling states again.</div>
<div dir="ltr">

<div dir="ltr">
On a side note this is also a demo post to test the new blogger app, for updates on the go.</div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Just a quick update on my compulsive cataloguing of craft resources in my filofax. My distress ink colour chart
from </span><a href="http://rangerink.com/?ranger_project=ranger-ink-pad-label-sheets" target="_blank"><span style="color: #b28520; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">ranger</span></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> is filling up rather nicely, in fact I've had to manually extend it to allow for the seasonal inks. I've also added one for
Ranger's Archival inks and already linked to my memento chart in <a href="http://handmadebyrianna.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/whats-in-your-filofax-friday-2.html" target="_blank">#2</a>. I also made my own table for Canford Card colour samples, using templates from </span><a href="http://philofaxy/"><span style="color: #b28520; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">philofaxy</span></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> :)</span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfNt-hB6sqiV6X_W8RqJH2dY_hQHcVwE8PVkCPSiFGB7avOUI2a9IsdOyuU1jJB8XA35yO-96a2-YghjXatx04IcgjvWiiVgKiYJScRQ239O9jMeq-bWlTDXuWMn0sWTboIFLUsAQtTSg/s1600/Card_Nan_broach_01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfNt-hB6sqiV6X_W8RqJH2dY_hQHcVwE8PVkCPSiFGB7avOUI2a9IsdOyuU1jJB8XA35yO-96a2-YghjXatx04IcgjvWiiVgKiYJScRQ239O9jMeq-bWlTDXuWMn0sWTboIFLUsAQtTSg/s320/Card_Nan_broach_01.jpg" width="217" /></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">It's my Husband's Nan's Birthday next week, I wanted to make her a unique card which was a little less grungy that my more recent creations and a little more chintzy but I also wanted to send her a gift. I needed something that was easy to post, and so I reached for the felt and beads and came up with this corsage broach;</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span> </div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">I have to admit I've really missed sewing, I made one sock monster and got halfway through a Shelf Elf at Christmas before we all got poorly and then Christmas cards and tags took over.</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"></span> </div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Somehow along the way I started designing a card around the broach, using a slightly glittery floral paper, prima flowers and paper lace, and punching two holes in the card to allow for the Broach back to be fastened inside the card.</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span> </div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Before adding the prima flowers I was starting to doubt myself but I think it works in the end, not sure my sewing is good enough to unleash this sort of design in the shop just yet, but if you can't make a special effort for family and friends who are you going to make it for?</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Been rather busy with the kids lately (today we've been out in the snow all day today) and I'm helping design wedding stationary for a friend's wedding, as well as trying to add to the card and tag designs in my etsy shop.</span></div>

<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"></span> </div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I did however find time today to created a new tag based on a lovely new stamp of mine with the Bridal mantra "Something old, something <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">new, something borrowed & something blue". It was cut with my Big shot, aged with distress inks, stamped with archival ink and embellished with diamante. It is available now in my </span><a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/120806857/bridal-gift-tag-on-satin-ribbon-for" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">etsy shop</span></a></span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> but wanted to share it here too. I even got to use my own personal 'something blue' for the photo shoot; my lovely (blue soled and lined) Irregular Choice 'Mrs Lower' heels :)</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"></span></div>
